TOLLS TO LET

    NOTICE is here by given, – that the TOLLS arising at the several Toll Gates upon the lower District of the Turnpike Road leading from the town of Kingston-upon-Thames, in the county of Surrey, to Sheetbridge, near Petersfield, in the county of Southampton, called or known by the several names of the RIPLEY GATE, the BURYFIELD-LANE GATE, the GODALMING GATE, the LIPHOOK GATE, and the RAKE GATE, will be LET separately by AUCTION to the best Bidders, at a Public Meeting of the Trustees of the said Road, to be holden at the Council Chamber in Guildford, in the county of Surrey, on Tuesday the 25th fay of January next, between the hours of twelve and two, for the term of three years, to commence from the 25th day of March next, in the manner directed by the Act passed in the third year of the reign of his late Majesty King George the Fourth, "For Regulating Turnpike Roads;" the Tolls of which Gates produced the last year, as follows, viz.—

    Above the Expenses of collecting them; and will be then put up at those respective sums.

   Whoever happen to be the best Bidders, must at the same time pay one month in advance, of the rent at which such Tolls may be let, and give security with sufficient sureties to the satisfaction of the Trustees of the said Lower District of Turnpike Road, for payment of the rents agreed for, monthly, in advance.

   At the same meeting, the said Trustees will take into consideration and determine upon the propriety of increasing the Toll on narrow-wheeled wagons travelling on the said road.
