    • Robert Spencer was born between 24-Apr-1844 & 23-Apr-1845.
    • Robert Spencer was born between 24-Apr-1844 & 23-Apr-1845. [12,13]
    • Photo taken by P. E. Chappuis of 69 Fleet Street, London with "Spencer Culbertson, Mother's half-brother" written on back. He appears to be about 40 years old.
    • He latterly lived at 5 Bishopsgate Street, London and was a corn broker who worked at 9 Pitt Street, Campden Hill at the time of his death.
    • He died intestate at 40 Threadneedle Street, London the "Baltic" club. Letters of Administration were granted to a creditor Francis Etherington Baker of 14 Graham Road, Dalston. His widow, brothers & sisters had renounced the Letters of Administration.
    • An inquest was held on 21st April 1894 at the City Mortuary, Golden Lane, in the parish of St Giles, Cripplegate and Broad Street Ward before Coroner Samuel Frederick Langham. (Copy held) Roberts' body had been found at 5.20 pm in a closet in the lavatory on Monday 23rd. Dr Nicholson of 54 New Broad Street was called and pronounced life extinct some 4 or 5 hours previously. (Copy letter from the Ward Beadle Mr H Blunsum held). Copy of two pages of notes made by Mr Langham also held, but are very difficult to read. They show the notes made on what each of the five witnesses testified. The witnesses stated:- John Culbertson, 49 Eastcheap 49 Eastcheap crossed out and written over with St Mary Cray, Kent, Secretary to London Produce Clearing House has sworn and ... that deceased Robert Spencer Culbertson was my brother he worked at 9 Pitt Street Campden Hill ... Corn Broker and was 49 years of age- He has not been under ... ... for the last 4 months. Charles Thomas Bacon (plumber), 2 Linnell Rd, Fairfield, Upper Edmonton has sworn saith on Monday evening soon after 5 was repairing some pipes at the Baltic Coffee House Mr ... came down ... ... I was in the laundry and asked me to look into the lavatory (crossed out) closet as he had ... his ... during the day I procured a small ladder and got thro' ... closet window I saw a gentleman on the seat reclining in the corner quite still ... ...... the door open and saw deceased on the closet quite dead he was very cold - I sent for Dr who came in a few minutes and pronounced him dead I saw nothing in the closet. Henry Gorman (PC 965), City Police ... ... saith on Monday evening inst at 5.30 I was called to the ... I saw deceased apparently dead ... a little to the left. Dr was there and pronounced him dead. Thomas Rye (PS 86) both of Bishopsgate Street Station Joseph John Nicholson 42 Fel?own Road South Hampstead and New Broad Street physician and surgeon by ... saith I was sent for on Monday evening about /past 5 I found the deceased reclining on left side in closet - quite dead and had been dead 4 or 5 hours nothing ... ... ... ... for death - no marks of ... I made a ... ... I ... fully degenerated of heart lungs were very cold - stomach distended with gas - undigested food - some not properly masticated - ... organs Really I believe deceased died ... fully degenera? of ?heart. Verdict of inquest - natural death

    • 25-Sep-1984 Robert & Anna's joint graves found in St Pancras & Islington Cemetery, Finchley. Grave No. 1 4H grant No. 4616 A white cross inscribed at the base with "In memoriam, Robert Spencer Culbertson, entered into rest April 23rd 1894, aged 49 years, Jesus said I am the resurrection and the life. And Anna his wife, born 1845 - Died June 27th 1923
    • The Freeman's Journal dated 9 Feb 1870 reported the case of Culbertson v Wood. In that report it shows Robert Spenser Culbertson being born 9 Feb 1845. It also reports that Robert Culbertson married Ellen Ashlin in May 1842 whereas the certificate shows it as Apr 1842 [14]
