     12TH HANTS RIFLE VOLUNTEER’S PRIZE SHOOTING.—On Thursday, at ten o’clock, the corps,—composed of the members belonging to the 12th Hants, viz., Petersfield, Liphook, Haslemere, Eastmeon, Horndean, and Hambledon, met at Helmington Bottom for the purpose of contesting for the following prizes (the total value being £41 10s.), viz.:First match, £19 in four prizes:—1st prize, silver cup, value £12; 2nd ditto, ditto, £4;3rd ditto, ditto, £2; 4th ditto, ditto, £1. Second match, £13 in four prizes:—1st prize, £6; 2nd ditto, £4; 3rd ditto, £2; 4th ditto, £1. For the 1st and 2nd class shots only. Third match £9 10s. in five prizes:—1st prize, £4; 2nd ditto, £2 10s; 3rd ditto, £1 5s.; 4th ditto, £1; 5th ditto, 15s. For 3rd class shots only. We have only time to say (Thursday evening) that nothing has been decided, as only a portion of the corps has contested. The number of privates on the ground were 68, and the following officers—Captain Sir W. Knighton, Bart., Lieut. G. Seward, Ensigns S. Seward and William Chacraft, and Assistant-Surgeon Kirkman. A full account will be given next week.

PETERSFIELD, DECEMBER 13.

     THE TWELFTH HANTS VOLUNTEER RIFLE CORPS.—The competition for prizes between the members of the 12th Hants took place on Thursday and Friday in Helmington Bottom, when there was some excellent shooting notwithstanding the unfavorable state of the weather. The shooting took place under the direction of Captain Sir W. W. Knighton and Ensign Seward on Thursday, and under the superintendence of Lieutenant Seward on Friday. The twelve-guinea cup was won by Serjeant Caplen, Ensign Seward standing second. The first prize for first and second class shots was won by Ensign Chalcraft, Ensign Seward being second. The first prize for the third class was won by Private Luff. We regret that we are unable to give the score and the names of the other winners of prizes.
