PETERSFIELD.
12TH HANTS RIFLES.—On Tuesday last, the Horndean division of this Corps, marched to the practice ground, under Lieutenant Sir W. Knighton, Bart., accompanied by their brass band, to Helmington Bottom, but, not meeting the Petersfield division there as expected, they marched on and entered the Town under the cheering strains of the band, opposite the Red Lion Hotel, when they fell out, and entered the same, and partook of the necessary creature comforts after an eight miles march, the weather being anything but propitious. Refreshments being over, they again fell in, under the Captain Commandant Chawner, headed by the drum and fife band, and marched up the High-street, to the Square. Here they were joined by the Petersfield division, they went through their usual drill practice together, during which time the brass band enlivened the Town by some popular airs, and at half-past six the Horndean rifles left on their homeward march.
