PETERSFIELD, February 16.
THE TWELFTH HANTS VOLUNTEER RIFLE CORPS.—The 12th Hants began their ball practice on the practice ground on Tuesday, when they did some credit to the instructions of their Commandant, Captain Chawner, and their instructor, Sergeant-Major Allen. The party consisted chiefly of non-commissioned officers of both divisions. Some good shooting was made, considering it was the first effort, Lieutenant Sir W. Knighton making a bull’s eye at 200 yards. The following are the points from ten rounds, at 150 and 200 yards.:—
Lieutenant Sir W Knighton | 10 |
Sergeant Mortimer | 5 |
Sergeant Seward | 11 |
Sergeant Macfarland | 6 |
Sergeant Finley | 8 |
Sergeant Glass | 5 |
Sergeant Bettsworth | 3 |
Corporal Edney | 8 |
Corporal Caplen | 8 |
Corporal Ogburn | 8 |
Corporal Cole | 8 |
Private Minty | 5 |
Private Hoar | 6 |
Private Ayling | 9 |
Private J M Kirkman | 2 |
Private Smart | 5 |
The whole making an average of nearly seven points.
