PETERSFIELD CRICKET CLUB. —The opening match for the season took place in the Heath on Mayday, under the cheering rays of a glorious sun, between two elevens of the Petersfield club, —one from the Town, and the other from the neighbourhood. The wickets were pitched at ten o’clock, and everything tended to enhance the enjoyment of this noble game. At the close of the day the ‟knights of the willow” and their friends wended their way to the Dolphin Hotel, where they sat down to a capital spread to celebrate the commencement of the season, when the merry song and toast enlivened the remaining hours. The following is the score of each eleven :—
1st Innings | 2nd Innings | TOTAL | |
Town | 70 | 94 | 164 |
