PETERSFIELD.

RIFLE CORPS.—The first meeting of the members for drill took place at the Town Hall, on Monday evening last, 7 o’clock, when we were pleased see some new faces joining the numbers, making together a goodly number for the first drill. The volunteers went through the initiatory instruction under the able superintendence of Sergeant William Whiting of the Grenadier Regiment of Foot Guards, who has been appointed drill-sergeant of the corps, and who has been stationed in this town on the recruiting service for the last five months. It is gratifying to the members to be placed under the instruction of so respectable a man.
