THE TWELFTH HANTS VOLUNTEER RIFLES.—The annual inspection of this corps, comprising 66 out of 76 members of all ranks, took place on the heath on Friday last, by Lieut.-Colonel Colville. The gallant officer was received upon the ground with the customary salute, after which he inspected the arms, clothing, &c., when the officers and non-commissioned officers out the company through various movements, and Adjutant Cooke exercised them in light infantry drill, at the conclusion of which the gallant officer said he was pleased to see such a good muster, and their steadiness showed them to be a well-drilled corps. He had only one fault to complain of, which was talking in the ranks, and he should make a most favourable report to the War Office.

INSPECTION OF THE 12TH HANTS.—The annual inspection of the 12th Hants Rifle Volunteers took place on Friday afternoon, the weather being favourable. The corps mustered in the Square soon after one o'clock. The officers present were Captain Seward, Lieutenant Minty, and Ensign Soames, with 66 non-commisioned officers and men, out of 76 of all ranks, when they marched to the Heath. The inspecting officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Colville, on reaching the ground was received with the customary salute. having inspected the arms, clothing, &c., the officers and non-commissioned officers put the company through various movements, and Adjutant Cook exercised them at light infantry drill.
