Since writing this far, an express has just arrived for the 2d Dragoon Guards, who left our barracks about 4 o'clock for Petersfield, where it is asserted the rioters are doing great injury, and the reports most alarming, but doubtless much exaggerated. It is not the agricultural labourers who do the mischief, but the villians hired for the occasion, and who go from place to place exciting them to mischief, and it is hoped that a detection may soon follow; for on conversing with many of the poor men who have joined in the riots, all to Clare they were strangers who led them on who are unknown to all.
