THE DAY MAIL.—We mentioned a month ago, in connexion with the opening of the railway, that we had lost thereby a second delivery of letters, and suggested that a memorial should be presented to the Post-office authorities on the subject. We are glad to find that a memorial to the Postmaster-General is now in course of signature by the gentry, merchants, traders, and others of the town and neighbourhood. We also understand that Sir William Jolliffe, Bart., our esteemed member, is in communication with the authorities, and it is hoped that arrangements will shortly be made for restoring this most important acquisition, the loss of which is felt to be a very serious set off against the advantages accruing from the opening of the railway.
