PETERSFIELD. —The second lecture of the session in connection with the Evening Schools was delivered in the National Schoolroom yesterday se’nnight, by the Rev. J. Holland, rector of Petworth, on the ‟Honey Bee.” After describing the structure of this wonderful little insect, the lecturer gave many illustrations of the extraordinary powers of instinct shewn in the structure of its cells, &c. and some pleasing anecdotes of its curious habits, concluding with practical suggestions on ‟how to make honey, and how to make money,” from the bee. The lecture was listened to with the greatest attention, and gave much pleasure from the easy and unaffected way in which it was delivered. A vote of thanks, proposed by the rector (Rev. J. M. Sumner), was warmly responded to. The lecture was illustrated with several choice diagrams.
