On Thursday the town-crier of Petersfield published the following notice:—“Notice is hereby given that Philip Turner, Buriton parish, pauper, intends taking himself a wife. You scoundrels, who have any objection to this resolution, come forward and state it this day, or ever after hold your peace.” Turner is upwards of 70 years of age, and is just come into possession of the means of keeping himself respectably and independently.— Hampshire Chronicle.
