A FOOLISH FREAK.—On Wednesday evening last some young men thoughtlessly gave a boy named Johnson, about 14 years old, a member of the 12th Hants fife and drum band, a large quantity of ardent spirits. We are informed that he drank a pint and a-half of gin, rum, and brandy within the space of half-an-hour; the consequences were, as might have been expected, most alarming. He was seen to fall in the street, and when picked up was utterly insensible. Mr. Cross, of the firm of Whicher and Cross, was sent for, and immediately attended, and by the prompt application of the stomach pump he succeeded in restoring partial consciousness, but it was near midnight before the boy was pronounced out of danger.
