PETERSFIELD.

A PROLIFIC GATHERING.—An accidental and singular assembly of four persons, two of whom being members of the Rifle Corps, met after drill practice, a short time back, when the conversation turned upon twins, which elicited the following statement, viz.

—   No. 1 was a twin, his mother had 4 pairs, and number of children altogether, 19.

—   No. 2 was a twin, whose mother had 3 pairs, and total number of children, 12.

—   No. 3 was a twin, whose mother had 1 pair, and total number of children, 8

—   No. 4 whose mother had 6 children

making between the 4 assembled 8 pairs of twins, and number of children, 45. But the most singular part of the case is, that a daughter of one of the 4 pairs of twins, had twins, and one of them had twins, making together three generations of twins in the same family in existence. The father of the 3 pairs of twins had 11 sisters, grown up to womanhood, he being the only son, making 12 children. This son is the father of 11 children, 10 of whom were boys, 6 of whom were twins, and 1 girl. No. 2 being one of the 3 pairs. No. 3 was born three days after his twin sister.
