ACCIDENT.—A serious accident happened on Friday last to Alfred Carter, of Tilmore, while working at Mr. Trimming's cottages, at Sheet. It appears that several workmen were engaged in removing a large piece of  timber from the building, when it suddenly snapped asunder, and by its weight forced down the scaffolding upon which the men were standing, precipitating them to the ground with great violence. Carter sustained a compound fracture of the heel, which was literally smashed to pieces. We hear that under the care of Messrs. Whicher and Cross, surgeons, he is going on well.
