THE FOLLOWING ADDITIONS have recently been made to the Winchester Museum :—A specimen of Dutch pottery of the 17th century, presented by Mr. Lowth; a Russian firelock from the Crimea, by Captain Brown, 88th Regiment; a specimen of early English pottery, an ancient key, and divers Roman coins, discovered in the excavations for the new military hospital, by Mr. Cole, clerk of the works; a long-eared bat, a green woodpecker, a curious specimen of coral and sundry geological specimens, by Mr. W. J. Scott, of Petersfield; and an adder and blind worm, preserved in spirits, by Mr. J. Wilde. Since the commencement of the year many persons have availed themselves of the privilege of taking books from the free-lending department of the library, and the number volumes issued amounts to 565.
