DISTRICT INTELLIGENCE.

NATIONAL SCHOOLS.—The anniversary of these schools took place on Thursday. At half-past two o’clock a public service was held in the church, when a most suitable and impressive sermon was preached to the children and a respectable congregation, by the Rev. C. Wilson, rector of Camborne, Isle of Wight. At the close of the service the children walked in procession from the church to the schools where they were regaled with cake, tea, &c.; the remaining part of the day was spent by the large number of children present, in games of different kinds, much to the delight of all present.

SCHOOL TREAT.—The annual treat to the children of the National Sunday and Infant Schools was given on Thursday last. The children attended divine service, and an excellent and appropriate sermon was preached to them by the Rev. C. Wilson, rector of Calbourne, Isle of Wight. The children were bountifully supplied with tea and plum cake, and the parents afterwards partook of tea. The weather was very unfavourable, which marred the pleasure of the day.
