PETERSFIELD.—The annual festival of the Day and Sunday Schools took place on Thursday, when, although the morning was wet, the day brightened up towards evening, so that all were able to enjoy themselves. The schools mustered in the play-ground at two o’clock, when they marched in procession to church, headed by the fife and drum band, where a capital sermon was preached by the Rev. T. Field. After the sermon they again marched down the High-street, and turned up the New Way, and had their tea in the school-rooms, to the number of nearly 400. They then adjourned to Mr. Baker’s meadow, when several games were indulged in till the shades of evening put a stop to out-door amusement. About 200 adults, including many of the gentry and tradesmen of the neighbourhood, were spectators of the scene.
