PETERSFIELD.—GAS.—The annual meeting for the election of Inspectors for lighting the town with gas during the ensuing year, took place on Tuesday the 4th inst.: H. Atkinson, Esq., in the chair. H. Peskett and J. Mason, Esqrs., went out of office by rotation, but were re-elected. The Rev. M. A. Smelt was elected in the room of Mr. Johnston, resigned. The inspectors asked for and obtained a rate of £65 to defray the expense of lighting the town during the ensuing year. The rate-payers will be pleased to learn that this is £10 less than was asked for lighting last year.
