RE. FREDERICK WARNE FITT, ALTON, PETERSFIELD, &c.—This was a sitting for the adjourned choice of assignees, and examination of the bankrupt Frederick Warne Fitt, of Selcombe, Hants, machinist.
Three proofs were tendered and admitted, viz.:—Mr. Samuel Smithers Fitt, of Selcombe, miller, for £129 6s. 3d. for goods sold, and many lent. Mr. Thomas Fitt, of Petersfield, coach builder, £60, for money lent on the 6th of February last, on the bankrupts note of hand, and Mr. William Henry Blake, of Alton, iron founder, debt £47 10s. 2d., who was appointed trade assignee.
The bankrupt having applied for an allowance, was granted 35s. per week from the date of the adjudication, the 8th of August last.
The accounts upon which he applied to pass his examination, commence on the 1st of January, 1860, and end on the 8th of August in this year, and are thus summed up, viz.:—

The unsecured creditors principally reside at Alton, Selcombe, Petersfield, Sheet, and Kingsley, and the creditors holding security are,
Mrs. Bennett, of Headley, debt £205, holds as security for £200 and interest, at 5½ per cent, a second mortgage on the windmill, situate on copyhold property at Selcombe, vale £400.
Miss Duncaster, for wife under her uncle’s will £400, holds as security for £300 and interest, a mortgage on copyhold property, consisting of house, mills and land, at Selcombe, value £600.
Hornby and Son, Grantham, debt £234 2s. 9d.
They held at the date of my bankruptcy, a bill of sale on a steam thrashing machine, which they have since seized and taken away, value £350.
The bankrupt’s statement of affairs on the 1st of January, 1860, discloses the following items, viz.:—
DR.—To sundry creditors, £1034 8s. 9d.; balance being capital, £415 14s. 3d. Total, £1450.
CR.—By property estimated, £1350; by horse, commission, &c., £40; household furniture cost £60. Total, £1450.
The bankrupt’s ‟trading account” from the above period down to the date of his failure on the 8th of August, shows:—
DR.—Interest on property, £71 10s.; repairs of machine, &c., £12 6s. 4d.; keep of horse, &c., £38; wages, £186 5s.; balance being profit, £28 14s. 6d. Total, £336 15s. 10d.
CR.—By hire of horse, £63 4s.; amounts received for threshing, £250 13s. 10d.; rents, £22 18s. Total, £336 15s. 10d.
As the trade assignee had only just been appointed, and had had no opportunity of investigating the bankrupt’s accounts, the examination of the latter was adjourned until the 16th of October next, with enlarged protection from arrest.
