COURT OF BANKRUPTCY, LONDON

     The first meeting for the proof of debts and choice of assignees, under the bankruptcy of Mr. Thomas Waller, of Petersfield, provision merchant, grocer, baker, currier, leather seller, was held in the Court of Bankruptcy, London, on Friday, the 5th inst. before Mr. Commissioner Evans. Mr. Chidley, of Gresham-street, appeared for the petitioning creditors—Mr. Chase, of Harting, Sussex; Mr. Chase, of Weston, near Petersfield; and William Henry Paine, of Islington, executors of Mr. William Chase, who adopted these proceedings on the 8th of September last, for a debt of £485  3s, money lent and advanced by the deceased.

     The following proofs of debt were admitted without opposition on this occasion :—

    The preliminary statement of Messrs. Paul and Turner, of Coleman-street, shews that the bankrupt’s debts amount to £2800 assets, estimated to realise a dividend of ten shillings in the pound.

    The creditors nominated Mr. William Henry Paine, of Hornsey-row, Upper-street, Islington, painter, to act as trade assignee.

     The bankrupt applied for an allowance, and Mr. Chidley, after a brief discussion, consenting, the learned Commissioner granted 30s a week until the next sitting.

     The bankrupt has surrendered and signed the declaration to make full disclosures relative to his property.

     The bankrupt’s protection having been enlarged until the examination meeting, which is fixed to be held on the 6th of November next, at 12 o’clock, Mr. Chidley was appointed solicitor, and Messrs. Paul & Turner accountants to the estate.
