The Brethren of the of Œconomy, No. 90, of Freemasons, held their monthly meeting at the rooms adjoining the Black Swan Hotel, on Wednesday afternoon, and it was well attended. Among those brethren who casually attend, were W. W. Beach, Esq. M.P. The meeting was the first in the 101st year of the existence of the Lodge, and the special business for transaction was the installation of the W. M.-elect (Bro. A. Smith, Esq.), whose duty it was also this evening to appoint and invest, his officers for the ensuing year. The ceremony of installing the new Master was most ably worked by Bro. H. C. Levander, late of Devizes, but now of Petersfield, an old and respected member (P.M.) of the Lodge. The officers under the W.M. for the ensuing year are as follow:—Bro. J. A. Higgs, S.W.; Bro. Sheppard, J.W.; Bro. G. Durant, Treasurer; Bro. H. Huggins, Secretary; Bro. Adamson, S.D.; Bro. J. Waterman, J.D. (whose investment was postponed in consequence of his unavoidable absence); Bro. E. Carter, I.G. ; Bro. H. Grant, Tyler (who enters upon this office for the 41st year of his services). An excellent banquet followed the closing of the Lodge, provided in Bro. Sherry’s well-known style of elegance; and the brethren afterwards sat in the enjoyment of that close bond of intercourse peculiar to the fraternity, several excellent speeches being delivered, and the usual loyal and patriotic observances being all duly honoured.
