PETERSFIELD. —The building of the mortuary chapels at the new Cemetery is progressing satisfactorily, and it is hoped they will be completed by the end of June, so as to be in readiness at the time fixed by government for closing the old burial grounds at the church and chapel. The site selected by the burial Board is one of the many beautiful spots with which this neighbourhood abounds, and the choice evinces alike good taste and sound judgment, as not only is the scenery beautiful, but the soil is everything that could be desired for the purpose. The land was purchased of our townsman, Mr. Parsons, at a rent charge of £16 per annum, which is considered equivalent to about £200 per acre. The same gentleman has also advanced the loan of £1200, required by the Board for carrying out the works.
