CHURCH MISSIONARY SOCIETY.— Three sermons were preached on Sunday in aid of this society; that in the morning by the Rev. M. A. Smelt, in the afternoon by the Rev. H. Haig, and in the evening by the Rev. W. Clay. A public meeting in behalf of the same object was also held in the National schoolroom, on Tuesday evening, under the presidency of the Rev. J. M. Sumner, when most interesting addresses were delivered by the chairman, the Rev. M. A. Smelt, Rev. F. Cunningham, Rev. W. Clay, and the Rev. H. Haigh. A considerable sum resulted from the sermons and meeting.
