CIVIL SERVICE APPOINTMENT.—We are pleased to be able to record the success of Mr. Alfred M. Forder, son of Mr. Forder, the school, Eastmeon (formerly a pupil teacher in our National School under Mr. Macfarland), in obtaining an appointment in the Civil Services of the Crown. he was the first in a competition of six candidates for two assistant-surveyorships of taxes, Inland Revenue. He obtained the nomination through the kindness of Captain the Hon. H. H. Jolliffe, M.P.
