PETERSFIELD. —The closing lecture of the season was delivered in the National School-room, on Friday se’nnight, by the Rev. J. Williams, the subject being ‟Petersfield : its past, present, and future.” These fortnightly lectures have been well attended throughout the season, but on the present occasion the audience was more numerous than usual, both rooms being completely filled. The rev. gentleman had evidently bestowed great pains and research in preparing the lecture, which was replete throughout with interesting matter, and being delivered in the lecturer’s usual forcible manner was listened to with intense interest from first to last, although occupying full two hours and a half. This excellent lecture, with some additional matter relating to the surrounding neighbourhood, is about to be published in a cheap form.
