On Tuesday, while the convict van was stopping at the Red Lion Inn, Petersfield, to change horses, a by-stander observed a pewter pint between the legs of one of the prisoners, which proved to belong to Mr Metcalf, of the Talbot, Ripley, which had been filched while the men were taking refreshment there. The noted Ikey Solomons was of the party. It is rather singular that one of the wheels of the van came off just before it arrived at Petersfield, and a similar accident happened the last journey to Portsmouth.
