Cottage Poems. By Charles Marshall. Petersfield: G. Duplock
We understand that the author of this modest collection of poems is a working man. They possess the merit of being written in a truly English style, and even with some raciness of diction, which carries the reader along pleasantly. If proof were required that the working classes can appreciate poetical thoughts and feelings an instance such as this must tend that way. Works of this kind, apart from any particular merit they may possess, will do something towards promoting an extension of sympathy between different portions of the community.
