Sarah Harris was charged with assaulting Harriet Chandler, on the 13th May last. Complainant is a married woman living at Petersfield. She deposed as follows: As I was sitting on the 13th May, in my room, I heard defendant abusing me. I went out when she immediately up with both fists clenched, and put herself in a fighting attitude, and threatened to screw the nose out of my face, which I said she should not do, she then collared me by the throat, which hurt me to speak for a week after. She called me a peaked-face devil, and was most imprint and aggrewating, which would have upset Job himself. The defendant called several witnesses according to whom there had been a ‟row.” The bench dismissed the case.
