At the Hampshire County Court held at Petersfield, on Wednesday, an important case came before the Judge, J. C. Gale, Esq., in which Mr. Bennett, of Petersfield, land-agent and surveyor, was the plaintiff, and the Rev. Mr. Coles, of Silchester, was the defendant. The plaint was laid at 20l., to bring it within the jurisdiction of the Court, being a reduction of 72l. on the original sum claimed by the plaintiff. The defendant pleaded a set-off, which the plaintiff admitted was higher than the sum that he now sought to obtain. The Court decided that it was a sufficient answer to the action, and non-suited the plaintiff, so that his remedy in another Court might not be defeated.
