West Sussex Gazette — Thursday 17 July 1862

CRICKET.—On Monday last a match of Cricket was played on the Heath between the Chiddingfold and Petersfield Clubs. The play of Blunden on the Petersfield side was admirable, and indeed the play throughout was excellent on both sides. The game, which excited great interest, was not played out, and consequently the first innings awarded the palm to Chiddingfold, though, as will be seen by the score, Petersfield, in their second innings, won ample laurels for themselves, and were in a fair way to retrieve their lost fortune.
