PETERSFIELD v. CHIDDINGFOLD.

On Thursday, a match took place on the Green at Chiddingfold between the above clubs, and the weather was all that could be wished for. The toss being won by Petersfield, Marden and Anthony, were first placed at the wickets to the bowling of E. Sadler, Esq. and Callingham; the innings closing with 67 runs. Very good play was made on both sides, and on dinner being called, which, was served up by Host Lucas, of the ‟Winterton Arms,” at 2 o’clock, Chiddingfold had obtained 58 runs, leaving 9 runs to tie, and three wickets to go down. After the dinner had been satisfactorily disposed of, play again commenced, and the Chiddingfold innings terminated with the nine runs being obtained, thus making a tie of the first two innings. In the second innings, Petersfield obtained only 37 runs, and the match was won by Chiddingfold by two runs and seven wickets to go down. The following is the score:—
