12TH HANTS RIFLES.—The 12th Hants was formed in March, 1860, when 60 members were sworn in, Captain Edward Chawner, commanding. There was no change for about two years, when Capt. Chawner resigned, and Sir W. W. Knighton, Bart., took command, and held it for about two years, since which Captain S. W. Seward has held the command. There are at the present time 73 names upon the roll, and of these no less than 70 made themselves efficient during the last year.
