PETERSFIELD UNION.
ELECTION OF MEDICAL OFFICER.
The Guardians will, at their Meeting to be held at the Board Room in the Union Workhouse on Thursday the 16th day of May, 1867, proceed to Elect a MEDICAL OFFICER for the Third District, comprising the several parishes of Sheet, Liss, Greatham, Hawkley, Empshott, and Prior’s Dean, the acreage being about 11,052, and the population 2136. The Salary will be £57 per annum, exclusive of attendance in midwifery cases and the performance of surgical operations, for which extra payment will be made, according to the scale of the Poor Law Board. The supply of medicines, surgical instruments, and all other medical and surgical attendances must, in every case, be provided by and at the cost of the medical officer. A fee of two shillings for every successful case of vaccination at or within two miles from the residence of the medical officer, and two shillings and six-pence for each successful case of vaccination beyond that distance will be allowed. The medical officer will be required to reside within the District, and be prepared to enter on his duties on the 24th of June next. Candidates most possess one of the four qualifications as required by Article 168 of the General Consolidated Order of the Poor Law Board.
The Medical Officer appointed will be required to enter into a contract for the performance of his duties according to the Regulations of the Poor Law Board. A form of contract may be seen and further information obtained on application to the Clerk, at his office in Petersfield, with whom Diplomas and Testimonials must be left on or before the 11th day of May, 1867.
