PETERSFIELD.

     YOUNG MENS’ IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY.—On Thursday evening last a meeting was held for the practice of elocution, the Rev. T. Field, Vice-President in the chair. Recitations were given by Messrs. Albery, Boswell, Henson, and Lambert, and readings by Messrs. Macfarland and Outridge. This being the last of the weekly meetings this session, the Chairman congratulated the members on the success which had attended their efforts as shown by the marked improvement that had taken place, not only in elocution, but in the power of expressing their ideas generally. It was announced that the quarterly meeting for the despatch of business would be held on Thursday evening, April 1st. It is intended to commemorate the close of the session by a social meeting and supper for members and friends (this evening) at the Town Hall, which has been kindly granted for the occasion.
