Farnham and Petersfield Turnpike Road

     NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, —That the TOLLS arising at the several Toll Gates and Bar upon or belonging to the above Road, called or known by the name of Holt Pound Gate, Sleaford Gate, Greetham Bar, and Bowyers Gate, will be LET by AUCTION, in one lot, for one year, from the hour of twelve at noon of the 11th day of August, next, to the best bidder or bidders for the same respectively, at the house of William Hill, called or known by the name or sign of the Spread Eagle, situate at Liss, in the county of Hants, between the hours of two and four in the afternoon of the 4th of August next, in the manner prescribed and directed by the Act passed in the third year of the reign of his late Majesty King George the Fourth, for regulating Turnpike Roads, and subject to such conditions and restrictions as will on the said 4th day of August be then produced; which Tolls last year were let for the sum of £349, above the expense of collecting them, and will be put at such sum. 

     Whoever happens to be the best bidder, at the same time pay to the Treasurer two months rent at which such Tolls shall be let in advance, and give security, with sufficient sureties, to the satisfaction of the Trustees of the said Turnpike Road for payment of the rest of the money by prospective monthly instalments, or in such proportions as may be directed.
