PETERSFIELD.]—Early on Friday morning, the 6th instant, a cottage was destroyed by fire at Ramsdean, in the occupation of Mr. John Pokes, drillman and machinist. The fire originated through a wood beam which ignited in the breast ot the chimney, and speedily destroyed the whole building. The house was the property of J. B. Carter, Esq., M.P.. and was uninsured; but the poor man's furniture was happily insured, the principal part of which was saved from destruction.
