FORESTERS’ FESTIVAL.—On Wednesday, the thrid annual gala of the Ancient Order of Foresters, Court Str. William Jolliffe, No. 4,479, was held at Br. Luffs, the Golden Horse Inn. The brethren assembled at their lodge-room, at nine o'clock, when, after the business part had been transacted, a procession was formed, the members wearing their insignia, with the splendid banners of the order, and headed by the Buriton brass band, proceeded through some of the principal streets, and then to the church, where an appropriate sermon was preached by the Rev. R. E. Cole, the curate. At two o'clock the brethren and their friends, numbering 60, proceeded to the Corn Exchange, where they sat down to an excellent dinner, provided by Host Luff, and to which, we may add, full justice was done. The chair was agreeably filled by the Rev. R. E. Cole, who gave the loyal and other toasts, which were heartily responded to, and the after part of the day was pleasurably enjoyed from the ample accommodation afforded by the spacious building, which comfortably contrasted with the excessive heat without. As the shades of evening set in the merry dance commenced with spirit, to the lively strains of the band, and continued till the hours had crept on to their full, when the separation followed an agreeably spent day.
