FUNERAL OF THE LATE MRS. MARTINEAU, OF BASING PARK.—On Friday the 3rd inst., the remains of this excellent and lamented lady were conveyed to their final resting place at Privett, on which occasion the village church was completely filled, there being nearly 500 persons present anxious to testify their respect for their estimable benefactress, whose charity though unostentatious has been perfectly munificent, and by her death, the poor not only of the immediate neighbourhood but of most of the surrounding parishes, have indeed lost a friend. The following was the order of the procession, the entire arrangements being under the management of our townsman, Mr. Small:—
Tenants on horseback, 1st Mourning Coach, 2nd Mourning Coach, 3rd Mourning Coach, 4th Mourning Coach, Seven Carriages of neighbouring Gentry. |
