PETERSFIELD, TUESDAY
(FROM OUR OWN REPORTER.)
In my communication of yesterday I mentioned that the majority for either candidate would not exceed two or three, I am sorry to say that the result is a majority of one for the Tory candidate, the numbers being, at the close of the poll, for—
Mr. Hector | 124 |
Sir William Joliffe | 125 |
Majority | -1 |
I have, however, the satisfaction to state that Mr. Hector intends to petition the House of Commons against the return of his opponent, with a moral certainty of being able to set it aside.
