At the meeting of the Central Board of the Hampshire Friendly Society, held on Wednesday last, (Rev. H. Salmon in the chair), 20 new members were admitted, and several insurances increased. Cheques were signed to the amount of £55. The Board having frequently received applications from painters and plumbers, to be admitted to the benefits of the society, the secretary was directed at the last meeting to write to Mr. Ansell, the actuary, for an opinion upon the subject, and a letter was read from him in reply, from which it appeared that it was not desirable (even at an increase of monthly contributions) to admit persons of those occupations. Mr. Joseph Cole was duly appointed agent for the Petersfield district, and the meeting was then adjourned to the 18th December next.
