HARTING.
WORKING MEN’S CLUB.—Another "ripple" has been added to small waves of entertainment and information, that are being zealously accumulated by the energetic exertions of the Vicar of Harting, Rev. H. D. Gordon. We append a programme, which though not strictly carried out, was so agreeably varied as to cause very much amusement to a small room crowded with a most attentive audience. Amongst the gentlemen who so kindly assisted we noticed Rev. W. Hook, of Chichester, who both read and sung; also many other clergymen, whose names we could not catch. Mr. Wesser and Mr. Grattan Cooke, who favoured the committee with a solo, oboe, and song comic; the latter being enthusiastically encored. Miss Nichols also most kindly came from Petersfield to add her assistance and talent to the entertainment. These readings are progressing, and with such a gentleman as the Rev. H. D. Gordon, who in the cause of the Working Men's Club, is both enthusiastic and sensible (two good ingredients), we doubt not, but they will attain a position in Harting acceptable to the sense of the working man, as well as the comforts of his family.
