In some parts of the country there have been heavy storms of rain. The country between Epsom and Petersfield had an abundant fall of rain on Friday. On the preceding day the town of Staines was flooded; and on Sunday morning the whole of the metropolis enjoyed a plentiful shower.

    So great has been the scarcity of water in and about Chichester, but what remains was selling last week at 3d. and 4d. the pailful; and owing to the same cause many sheep have been found lying in the fields. The same is said to be the case with the pheasants in Windsor Park.
