PETERSFIELD.

     HIGHWAY BOARD.—A meeting of this Board was held on Thursday last, at the Union Workhouse, for the purpose of electing a surgeon for the district. There were four candidates for the office, viz., Mr. Adams, Petersfield; Mr. E. Durman, Petersfield; Mr. R. B. Stephens, Langrish;  and Mr. John Wright, Petersfield. The tender of Mr. E. Durman was accepted; salary £150 per annum. By the above appointment the post of relieving officer for district No. 2 of the Petersfield Union becomes vacant. We understand there are several candidates.
