HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.—It will be seen by advertisement that the exhibition of this society is to take place on Tuesday next, when there will, doubtless, be a numerous attendance and a spirited competition. The committee this year offer four prizes for several classes of vegetables, for which they gave only three last year. Another improvement upon last year's arrangement is, that prizes will be awarded according to the districts of ‟hill” and ‟valley”— the hill district consisting of the country on the ridge of the hill from Wetham Hill to Bereley, and also of the country on the Southdown ridge. This distinction has been introduced to meet the disparity in soils found in the different districts.
