PETITIONS RESPECTING REFORM

Several petitions were then presented in favour of reform and the vote by ballot

Mr HUNT said that he had four and 20 petitions in favour of Parliamentary reform, all praying for vote by ballot, many of them for universal suffrage, and all for a great extension of suffrage. He then presented his petitions:-Worcester, Ashton-under-Lyne, Blackburn, Longfield, Kingsbury, Bolton, Manchester, Laleham, Undersham, Petersfield, Paisley, Rotunda in Blackfriars-road, Guisborough, Forfar, Radford, Newark, &c. He most earnestly supported the prayers of the various petitions, and especially those that required universal suffrage and vote by ballot. He wished ministers to know that a declaration was circulating in Lancashire and Cheshire among all the young men, that if they were not allowed a share in the representation they would rather rot in gaol then serve in the militia.
