INSPECTORS UNDER THE LIGHTING ACT.—A Meeting of the ratepayers was held at the Town Hall, on Friday week, for the purpose of passing the Inspectors’ accounts, filling up vacancies, and voting a sum of money for the ensuing year; Mr. G. Todman in the chair. The following is a summary of the accounts:—

The Rev. T. Floud and Rev. M. A. Smelt retired from the Board of Inspectors by rotation; the former was re-elected, Mr. G. Maxwell was chosen in the room of the latter, and Mr. Underdown in the room of Mr. Meeres, who had been appointed Overseer. The sum of 60l. was voted to the Inspector for the ensuing year.
