PETERSFIELD.]—On Tuesday evening, the 13th instant, a lecture on "Italy," with illustrations, was delivered at Messrs. Crafts' large assembly room, Red Lion Hotel, Petersfield, by J. B. Carter, Esq., the proceeds to be applied to the fund for the relief oof the distressed in Ireland. The dissolving views, the representation of Vesuvius, and the illumination of St. Peter's, at Rome, were striking and beautiful in extreme. The lecturer was loudly applauded during the evening by about 250 persons who were present. The sum realised for admission amounted to £8 12, in addition to which Mr. Carter made the amount up yo £10, besides defraying every expense incurred in getting up the lecture. A vote of thanks, at the close, was proposed by the Rev. F. M. Cunningham, M.A., which was seconded by Capt. Askew, of Broad Bush House.
