PETERSFIELD.

CRICKET.—HARTING v. PETERSFIELD.—On Wednesday the return match came off on the heath, between the juvenile borderers of East Hants and West Sussex. The weather was charming, and at two o’clock the Harting boys put in their appearance under the Rev. H. D. Gordon, when the Petersfield boys winning the toss, first stood upon the defensive, and the game commenced, which, after some good play, and very creditable fielding on both sides, terminated in favour of Harting by four wickets. The spacious club marquee was erected upon the ground, wherein, at the conclusion of the match, a plentiful supply of good tea (as a complimentary return) was provided, to which it is almost needless to say ample justice was done, and, a satisfactory conclusion, for the catering arrangement, &c., Mr. Underdown (secretary of the club) came in for a good round of cheering from the boys upon leaving the ground. Umpires, Mr. Buckland, for Harting, and Mr. Underdown for Petersfield. Score:—
