PETERSFIELD.]—A STREET DISTURBANCE.—On Monday evening, the 21st instant, our quiet little town was suddenly thrown into a state of the greatest consternation and confusion, in consequence of a large assemblage of persons congregating together, nearly the whole of whom were furnished with cow and other horns, and different kinds of bells, kettles, whistle-pipes, trays, canisters, and missiles of every conceivable description. The party marched, in a body, through the different streets, making the most hideous noises imaginable. On returning to the Market-square, they halted there, and an indescribable scene took place. The musicians were fired upon with a gun, but happily without anyone receiving an injury. This caused the mob to be more furious, and the noise which followed passes description.
